The staff, Governing Board and children of Altmore Infant School would welcome you applying for a place at our school. To do this you must follow the correct process for your child’s age as detailed below. Please click on the relevant tab below for further information.

We are pleased to accept children’s names for our nursery waiting list when your child is two and half years old.
We offer a morning or afternoon session and try our best to accommodate parents’ requests.

You are welcome to register your child at Altmore Children’s Centre.

Please bring your:

  • Your most recent Council Tax Bill or if not available, your Tenancy Agreement or Rent Book
  • Utility Bill, (Gas, Electric, Water, Landline phone)
  • Your child(rens) Birth Certificate or Passport showing their Date of Birth and Full Name.

Reception Admission for September 2024 entry

We are a school maintained by London Borough of Newham which means they are the admission authority for this school. All applications for this school must be made through London Borough of Newham’s Pupil Services, not this school.

For all children born between 1st September 2019 – 31st August 2020 inclusive, parents/carers will need to apply for a Reception class place in an infant or primary school for September 2024 entry.

All Reception 2024 applications must be made through the family’s home local authority. ​

For children living in Newham families must apply via London Borough of Newham.

For children living outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.

Parents/carers must apply for a Reception school place in our school, even if their child:

  • Attends our nursery OR
  • Has a brother or sister attending this school.

Before submitting a Reception application, we strongly recommend all families read the local authorities e-booklet ‘We are going to school 2024‘ pages 12–13 and pages 18-19.

Infant to Junior Admission

Infant to Junior School transition for September 2024 entry

Children born from 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 who attend an Infant school will need to apply for a Year 3 Junior school for September 2024. This does not apply to children who attend a Primary School unless their parent/carer wants to change their child’s school for September 2024.

All children at Altmore Infant School who are in Year 2 will need to apply for their Year 3 place at Lathom Junior School. Our school will hold parent information sessions regarding these applications to support all families.

All Junior School (or Year 3 in a Primary School) applications for 2024 entry must be made through the family’s home local authority using the eAdmissions website. ​

For children living in Newham families must apply via London Borough of Newham.

For children lives outside Newham, whose family wants them to attend this school their application must be made through their home borough naming this school as a preference on their application.

In Year admissions into primary school (aka mid-term and mid phase)
If a family arrives in Newham during the school year 2022/2023 and their child needs a school place they must complete an In Year form naming their preferred schools on the Newham website.

School places are usually offered within 10 days. The place offered may not be at the school the family prefers as that school may not have a suitable place available.
