Music

At Altmore, our Music curriculum is carefully designed to foster a deep appreciation for music and its diverse forms, cultivating musical skills and knowledge in line with the national curriculum. We believe that every child possesses a unique musical potential waiting to be discovered and nurtured.
Through a diverse range of musical experiences, students explore various genres, techniques, and musical history, enabling them to develop a broad understanding of music’s cultural and historical significance.

At Altmore, students actively engage in playing instruments, singing, composing, and appreciating musical works. They learn to explore and participate in performances, instilling a sense of collaboration and musical expression.

In EYFS

Music is incorporated into our EYFS curriculum through ‘songs’ that enable children to make musical links to their learning. Teachers will also use singing to help children with transitions throughout the school day. Children also have the opportunity to have a dedicated interactive Music lesson every Friday, which enhances their Music skills and builds their key vocabulary.

In KS1

Music is incorporated into our curriculum by the Topics we teach which provide children with the opportunity to develop and nurture their musical skills. We believe that music has a big impact on our body and minds, which promotes confidence, self-esteem and collaboration. Children also have the opportunity to have a dedicated interactive Music lesson every Friday, which enhances their Music skills and builds their key vocabulary.

Enrichment

We consider enrichment activities to be an important part of our children’s learning, providing children with stimulating and engaging practical experiences that support the curriculum and create a love for learning. Throughout the school year, children take part in a variety of enrichment activities. These include: visitors in school, visits from authors, educational visits, competitions, performances and celebrating our ‘Altmore Achievers’ in a weekly assembly.

Inspiring a love of learning in the resilient and confident leaders of tomorrow.
