Minibeasts and all things small

As part of our Science topic, ‘Minibeasts and all things small’, Year 2 have been on a bug hunt at East Ham Nature Reserve. Children hunted through lots of different microhabitats, such as fallen logs, in piles of leaf litter, and in grassland and flowerbeds.

They found lots of different minibeasts, including spiders, beetles, worms, woodlouse and snails, just to name a few! After the trip, the children returned to school to create their very own bug jars to show what they had learnt about minibeasts and how they are suited to their microhabitats.
