On Thursday 19 th January 2023 the children in Year 1 went to visit the Science Museum. This visit supported the children in developing their understanding of space. The children were very excited to take the District Line all the way to South Kensington.
During their visit, the children went to the Exploring Space area where they were able to see the different planets in 3D motion and look at real life spaceships. The children were able to see a
piece of the moon and spacesuits worn by real astronauts.
A shocking discovery found by one of the children was seeing Helen Sharman’s spacesuit in the museum. This is because she was an astronaut who was known to the children as she crash landed at Altmore Infant School in the Sensory Garden.
